There is No More Line

By Denis Campbell • Sep 11th, 2008 • Category: Features

McCain, Palin, Davis and Co. obliterated it with an ad so stupid and crazy they all need to be committed. Senator Obama supported a bill to protect children from paedophiles by encouraging teaching them so they know what constitutes good (safe) and bad touching from adults. This is what the sick Republican SPIN machine spun it into:

It is beyond despicable and comes on the heels of yesterday’s fake moral outrage at his use of a term as old as the hills, “you can put lipstick on a pig and it’s still a pig,” a line uttered in 2007 and 2008 by John McCain himself three times on the campaign trail, as ubiquitous as, “if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck…” and they are calling the remark sexist and an attack on Sarah Palin, once again making the Vice Presidential candidate Obama’s and the media’s main focus instead of McCain.

It must be like an adolescent locker room over there in the McCain camp. Who can come up with the grossest line and then make it into a Dukakis death penalty, Willie Horton or Swift Boat moment, ANYTHING to keep the press away from poor Sarah and McCain’s abysmal record.

The lies and SPIN are getting worse and the MSM are blowing each trivial bit up and ignoring an outstanding talk on the future of education given this morning in Norfolk, VA. Obama spoke there for 30 minutes about his guiding theme for fixing our broken K-12 education system, find out what is working now and do it, stop talking about it.”

It was a realistic and grounded look at what needs to happen in education across the board.

And it does not have a prayer of leading the national news this evening. I’m beginning to think we are the idiots they think we are. Especially if it wins the election for the 72-year old guy placing a hockey Mom a heartbeat away.

We get what we deserve in that scenario.
