London Freeze Mob Hits Liverpool Station

By Denis Campbell • Sep 23rd, 2008 • Category: Media

Click on this story to view a YouTube video showing ABC News.com’s raw footage of a “Freeze Mob” of nearly 200 people stopping and standing still at precisely 18:24 pm during a busy rush hour at London Liverpool Station, one of Europe’s busiest and located in the heart of The City financial district.

Similar groups around the world have conducted these freeze mobs. From Grand Central Station in New York City to downtown Singapore to a Starbucks in San Francisco where five people froze all wearing the same clothing, these freeze mobs are choreograhed and synchronised to the minute. This one ends with a long burst of a whistle. Other just start moving.

You can tell by the bemused and confused looks of passengers and passersby that they are not sure what is going on. They freeze at precisely 18:24:00 in whatever pose they were doing and my favourite on this particular sketch is the in process game of roack paper, scissors. People step around and never touch any of them as they rush to their homeward journey.

Enjoy the fun.
